Dr. Stephanie King is an accomplished licensed psychologist with over 18 years experience — most recently serving as an executive director of student services and special education. She has also served as clinical faculty and teaching faculty with the University of Washington.

  • Dr. King was awarded a Masters in School Psychology by the University of Washington in 2005. She continued on to receive her Doctorate from the University of Washington in 2007 with a focus on neurodevelopmental disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Clinic (FASD), depression and anxiety.

    In 2017, Dr. King received a Masters in Administration of Special Education from the University of Washington, Bothel campus.

Dr. Stephanie King is a licensed Psychologist who specializes in neurodevelopment, learning, and behavioral health needs in early childhood, childhood, and youth. She supports children, youth, and families to understand neurodevelopmental, behavioral or learning needs, and creates plans so that children and youth achieve their goals. Her practice focuses on developing a thorough evaluation of the child/youth’s strengths and needs, and utilizing that information to collaborate with families to develop comprehensive recommendations for success in school and at home. Dr. King believes that by helping families to develop a strong understanding of the child's strength and needs, they can support, teach, and advocate for their child/youth across environments, and improve educational and life outcomes. 

Dr. King’s education, training, and work experience have led to a breadth of knowledge and practical experience with children and youth in the areas of neurodevelopmental disabilities, the education system, and implementation of evidence-based intensive interventions. She was awarded a Masters in School Psychology by the University of Washington in 2005. Dr. King continued on to receive her Doctorate from the University of Washington in 2007 with a focus on neurodevelopmental disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Clinic (FASD), depression and anxiety, all while also working in public schools as a school psychologist. She continued her post-doctoral studies in neurodevelopmental disabilities at the Center for Human Development and Disability and Seattle Children’s Research in Seattle, WA. Dr. King then moved to the Chicago area with her family, and worked for a public therapeutic-day school as an intervention specialist where she focused on educational intervention, social and behavioral skill training, individual & group therapy, and family therapy for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. 

Dr. King and her family returned to the Puget Sound area in 2013, at which time she continued her work in public schools. In 2017, Dr. King received a Masters in Administration of Special Education from the University of Washington, Bothel campus. In public education, Dr. King has affected positive changes in systems, schools, classrooms, and individual student outcomes through her roles as school psychologist, Behavior Specialist, Supervisor of Behavior, Director of Special Education, and Executive Director of Student Services and Special Education. Dr. King’s leadership experience is specialized in implementation of Multi-tiered Systems of Supports, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, Social Emotional Learning, and systems to support mental health and wellness for all students. 

Dr. King also has an extensive background in professional development and training. She worked as adjunct faculty and clinical faculty at the University of Washington, Department of Education, School Psychology Program for 5+ years where she has taught Tier-3 Intervention, Special Populations, Social/Emotional/Behavioral Evaluation, Supervision of School-based Mental Health, and led a successful practicum program for graduate and doctoral level students. 

Dr. King has also served for three years as an affiliate instructor on the Washington AIMS project, a partnership between OSPI, OSEP, and UW Bothell, to develop school and district level leaders’ knowledge and leadership for implementation skills for Multi-tiered Systems of Support.
